Hey all,

Hope everyone's well. Just a question about comic recommendations. The only comic I'm following right now is The Darkness, the first one that got me hooked. I'm looking for another good comic, but there are quite a few out there!

I'm looking for something relatively dark - I'm a Frank Miller fan (Sin City, Dark Knight books) and obviously a Darkness fan. I'd go for Witchblade but it's a bit late to pick it up now, so maybe something more recent. Hunter-Killer seems okay but maybe not exactly what I'm after.

Looking for something more mature, darker, etc. No teen superheroes! I'd love some advice on this. Any would be appreciated.

Thanks! Take care.

Watchmen - an oldie but goodie best to pick up as a collected edition.

Transmetropolitan - Finar of the boards got me hooked on that one series is over but it was good.(I believe most of it is avalible as collected editions)

Oh yeah collected edition of The Crow its only in black and white and its shows its age by the hairstlyes but still I love it. and I am refering to the one by James O' Barr not the shlock that McFarland published back in the late 90's/early 2000's after he bought the rights from Kitchen Sink Press.

As for Witchblade you only need to go back to issue 80 as Mr. Marz wrote it as a way to get new people into the series.

Really? Fantastic. Yeah, I was worried about the money involved in catching up. If I had the money, I would. But hey. That's great. I'll have to check some of those out, Transmetropolitan does sound interesting.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Take care.

not a prob those are some of the few i've read outside of TC stuff.

here's a couple more

Age of Apocalypse from Marvel

Kingdom Come from DC

Astro City (due to be a film in 2007 according to IMDB)

oddly enough most of what i've suggested are mini series hmmm weird

Hmm lookin for a new dark comic book to start collecting. Well you should pick up necromancer. Ive only read the preview but it definatly looks dark and from what i read pretty good. Not sure if its out yet if not i think its coming out soon should pick up first issue and try it out if you like it you can start collecting it. I know it sucks to find a good book thats been goin for awhile. Much cheaper and easier to just buy one every month rather than buying craploads tryin to catch up.

MY VOTE GOES TO

1- EVIL ERNIE (SEP28, 2005)
2- PURGATORI (OCT, 2005)
3- CHASTITY (NOV, 2005)

THE RETURN OF CHAOS WILL BE AT DEVIL's DUE

check out the new website

www.chaoscomics.com

After Chaos went down in 2002
I found out about Top Cow's Witchblade & Darkness... I was very dissapointed that TC does not have a Universe like Marvel/DC/Chaos but just a bunch of different books

(except for Witchblade/Darkness/Magdalena)

MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS

Excellent. Cheers, guys. Am I Evil?, now that was a classy recommendation. Evil Ernie? I'm interested in that. Chaos Comics - how big are they? They seem pretty modest status-wise, and the universe thing...you mean all the characters being together in the same world? That is pretty good, I agree. I guess TC has a lot more comics, therefore a lot more diversity, which probably makes it harder to interlink all the characters.

I'm genuinly impressed by Smiley the psychotic button, though. This is good stuff. I appreciate that recommendation. Thanks! I'll have to see if I can get hold of the new EE stuff.

Chaos was the biggest selling independant comic in the early 90's, The company filed for chapter 11 in 2002 due to bad marketing and even worst management. Tales of Wonder, an internet comic shop bought the rights to the Chaos universe and is bringing them back to life starting this September with Devil's Due as publisher

Evil Ernie:

September 28, 2005: Evil Ernie in Santa Fe #1 (of 4)
October 26, 2005: Evil Ernie in Santa Fe #2 (of 4)
November 30, 2005: Evil Ernie in Santa Fe #3 (of 4)
December 28, 2005: Evil Ernie in Santa Fe #4 (of 4)

keep checking chaoscomics.com for the release dates of

Chastity & Purgatory

Yes, BoneRest is great... I read it in German. It's some kind of mystery story. You don't really know what's going on until the end.
The interior art is done by Guiseppe Camuncoli (he also did The Intimates) Here's an example of his artwork:

I second Walking Dead. Excellent book. plus... Zombies. you just can't go wrong there... I'd also suggest Fables. It's not dark like Evil Ernie or The Darkness... it's more like Sandman dark. It's very good. Also Hellblazer also by Vertigo
