That's a Tomb Raider/Witchblade Crossover. It has nothing to do with the main Witchblade story. But you do have a point. I'll add a second list with all the crossover TPBs.

I have all the TPBs except the two that haven't come out and the TR/WB trade, though I do have those comics.

I like to collect the trades since they're easier to carry with me when I go travelling. And it's also easier to get friends hooked on a comic if they can read a complete storyline all at once. :puff:

Same here.

Trades also look really good on the shelf.

thanks for the list, but it's essentially unchanged from what it has been for years. don't get me wrong, i love the cow, they are second only to marvel in terms of production values and character design, but their tpb publishing practices are the worst and most sluggish i have ever seen, and i've been collecting and reading comics for 20 years. witchblade is their flagship title, and only a fraction of the series has been collected. seven volumes, and distinctions was'nt even part of the regular series, nor was it very good. none of the witchblade trades have numbers on the spines, nor do they have the numbers of the issues collected in the publishing information. in the case of the darkness, their second most popular character, they just recently finished collecting the first series, years after it was completed, and the trade, apparently entitled flesh and blood, has been copiously advertised, but has never shown up on any bookstore or comic shop shelf that i've seen. ditto for original sin. this company is notorious for advertising upcoming trades months in advance, sparking excitement in devoted fans, and then the books never appear, making them nothing more than a blurb in the back of a single issue. they also have a copius library of cult classic titles that are collecting dust in back issue boxes, because no fan wants to pay five bucks each for back issues of cyberforce or ascension, that stuff was good, but not THAT good. cyberforce is making a much-ballyhooed return this year, so it's high time that the cow finished collecting that bombastic series. as for ascension, while certainly not the most well written story, it was so aesthetically unique and pleasing, and considering david finch's current superstar status, there is absolutely NO reason why this series should not be given the deluxe hc treatment, a la rising stars, or at the very least two or three trades. every cow fan i talk to loved the series, but few of them ever re-read it, because digging in the boxes and peeling the tape is such a pain in the ass. the only positive thing the cow has done in terms of collection policies is the stoppage of those flimsy "collected editions" that contained TWO ISSUES of a popular ongoing series. all the shop owners i know still laugh at them, refuse to shelve them with their other trades, and just toss them in bags in back issue boxes. the fact that these books were given spines and referred to as trades was absurd, and it reflected poorly on the company, making them look impatient and greedy. whoever is in charge of the book production at the cow, whether it's a single person or a commitee, needs to take a serious look at the sparse trade library in relation to the the copious single issue library, and wonder just what the hell they have been doing for the last ten years. that being said, top cow does produce some beautiful comics, and my hope as a fan is that they improve their lax collection policies and make their impressive vault more bookshelf/library friendly. they claim to be the top indy comic company in the country, it's time to start acting like it. the dark poet trc113@hotmail.com

It was a 4-part story.

What issue of Darkness was that? And what was the name of the darkness 1-shot. I'm missing those two issues.

Anybody know?

Aren't those in Darkness volume 3.5? And the one shots were simply titled Darkness/Witchblade and Witchblade/Darkness. The Darkness issue was volume 1 #28.

Here's the list of all Witchblade TPBs that are currently available:

Witchblade: Origins (#1 - #8)
Witchblade: Revelations (#9 - #17)
Witchblade/Darkness: Family Ties (WB #18 & #19 and Darkness Vol 1 #9 & #10)
Witchblade: Prevailing (#20 - #25)
Witchblade: Blood Relations (#54 - #58)
Witchblade: Distinctions (collects Tales of the Witchblade #1 - #6)
Witchblade: Obakemono (tale about a Witchblade wielder in feudal Japan)
Witchblade: Witch Hunt (#80 - #85)
Witchblade: Love Triangle (#26 - #39) release date unknown

Crossover TPbs featuring Witchblade:

Tomb Raider/Witchblade: Trouble Seekers
Marvel/Top Cow Crossovers TPB

I'm new to Witchblade and have a lot of catching up to do. Which trades are must-reads and where can I find them? Can anyone recommend any good on-line comic book stores, preferably a Canadian one where I can get good deals?

Thanks.

The best trades, IMO, are Origins, Witch Hunt and Obakemono.

You should read Family Ties before reading Prevailing, and unless you want to know about the previous Witchblade bearers you can skip Distinctions, since that has nothing to do with the story in the main book.

As for online stores you can try www.comic-central.com. They're US rather than Canadian, but they sometimes offer a nice discount.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. Last night I won an auction for Witchblade Volumes 4 to 7. I got a pretty good deal. I've ordered Origins, Witch Hunt and Love Triangle through Amazon.ca. My order will take weeks to be delivered so I'm gonna keep looking elsewhere. I'm still searching for Revelations. I'm not sure that I want Family Ties.

I checked Comic Central; the prices seem to be the cover prices. I may give in and just order the remaining trade paperbacks from that site.

Take my word for this, you do want Family Ties! It's one of the best Witchblade story arcs.

I just placed an order with Wizard Asylum. I bought "Revelations", "Family Ties", "Witch Hunt" and "Trouble Seekers" from them. I have "Origins" and "Love Triangle" on order from Amazon.ca. And Volumes 4 to 7 are being shipped to me from Top Notch Comics. So I think I have all of the important ones. Thanks.

Are we allowed to double post?

Anyway, I just received Volumes 4 to 7 from Top Notch Comics. I'm about half way through Volume 4. I have a few issues with the art and typos. But other than that, it's a good read thus far.
