The topic pretty much says it all. So I'll begin.

Writers

Mark Millar - I have never been disappointed with anything he's written.
Ron Marz - He has breathed new life into Witchblade, wrote the best story arc in vol. 2 of the Darkness, and has relaunched my favorite team book [Cyberforce].
Jeph Loeb - If you've read Superman/Batman, you know why he's on my list.

Artists

Leinil Francis Yu
Michael Turner
E.Bas
Mike Choi
Steve McNiven
Jim Lee

Silvestri will get on my list once he finishes HK #6. lol.

Writers:

1. Grant Morrison - His run on New X-men a few years ago is what got me back into comic books. In terms of dialouge and creativity Morrison is second to none and what I love about his stories is that they make you think. His characterization is a bit strange at times, but overall I've never not read a non-entertaining Grant Morrison book.

2. Jeph Loeb - The Long Halloween and Dark Victory are two stories that made me become a Jeph Loeb fan. In terms of writing, his style could not contrast with Grant Morrison's anymore. Snappy one word dialouge, his writing appeals to the senses and to your emotions. Jeph Loeb and Ron Marz have very simliar styles of writing in my opinion with Ron just being one step below Jeph.

3. David Wohl - Very underated writer. He has the dialouge, plot, and creativity to write a good style of any comic book. If given the opportunity, Wohl could go out there and take the reigns of any A rated super-hero and hold his own. Love his pop culture references and use of settings to bring the story to life. In addition the man does his research in any topic that he writes.

4. Paul Jenkins - I am currently being exposed to him as I re-read my Witchblade dark issues. Loving his work, very dark, very sacrastic, and very cynnical.

Artists:

1. Brian Ching
2. Michael Turner
3. Jim Lee
4. J. Scott Cambell
5. Ian Churchill

Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Erik Larsen (Savage Dragon) and John Romita Jr. are gods.

Guys like Pat Lee, Rob Liefeld, Joe Madureira and J. Scott Campbell make me sick. I actually laughed out loud when J. Scott Campbell promised his "Wildsiderz" comic wouldn't be late and that he had "various issues in the can"... It turned out he had ONE issue done and now the comic is in hiatus for months because Campbell is an irresponsible, lazy, slow (not to mention very poor) artist. Same goes for Madureira taking like a year between issues of Battle Chasers then turning his back to all the fans and Cyberforce's Pat Lee driving around on Porsches and living in expensive flats after screwing all his employess and never paying a dime (let's see someone edit this even with everything being the truth and widely reported in the media).

Writing:

Robert Kirkman, Brian Michael Bendis, Erik Larsen, Mike Mignola.

Art:

John Romita Jr., Jack Kirby, Mike Mignola, Erik Larsen, David Finch, Michael Turner, Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, Ed Benes, Lienil Francis Yu, Francis Manapul.

First off there's nothing there to edit, you're not bashing him, you're stating a public truth. So it doesn't need editing.

ok. this is my first post since... don`t know... a long time:

first off, let's cool down, alright? I guess it's your right to state your opinion about an artist but I don't like bashing. don't get me wrong. I'm not a great Campbell fan or something. but just because you can't stand him you've got no right to insult him (saying that someone is a poor artist is an insult).
And I'd be careful about this "public truth" thing. I mean public truth is often enough a lie, isn't it?
Only because the media says this or that guy's a dick it doesn't mean it's true...

now, back to the topic:

favourite authors:

- Grant Morrison - Arkham Asylum is in my opinion the best batman story ever written

- Frank Miller - I don't care about "All-Stars Batman..." but Sin City is damn cool.

- Neil Gaiman - nearly as crazy as Morrison but his stuff captures more magic and fantasy (Sandman, Death, 1602)

- Mark Miller - the Ultimates are great and if you didn't read Wanted yet... shame on you! ;)

- Alan Moore - he's the boss

- Bill Watterson - I simply LOVE Calvin an Hobbes!

- Robert Kirkman - Invincible soon became one of my favourite superheros. This book is the blast!

favourite artists:

- Dave McKean - a true artist!!! (Arkham Asylum, SANDMAN...)

- Frank Miller - I say it again: Sin City = damn cool, also the artwork

- Bill Watterson - best newspaper catoonist ever

- Silvestri, Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Greg Capullo, WYA (Invincible), Francis Manapul, Gabriele Dell'Otto and a whole lot more

Mcfarlane was my all time favorite writer back when he wasnt drawing the book Spawn and Greg Capullo was, and I'll never forget his run on his own Spiderman series which got me interested in comics to the point where I would visit the comic book store daily. Mark Millar has hooked me on Ultimate Fantastic Four. Lucky for me he has had a stream of great artists to go along with him on Ultimate Fantastic Four. Brian Bendis new what he was doing with New Avengers and I ate It all up that was untill David Finch left the book. Bendis was a great storyteller but the art just was'nt there to keep me entertained. Greg Capullo is a magnificent writer and artist when It came to the Creech, but that is then and this is now. Jeph Loeb will keep you going. He did so with Micheal Turner on Superman/Batman and his short run on Micheal Turner's Soulfire. Also on Batman with Jim Lee. One of the best lived stories I've read to date. I can't wait to see what's next on his team-ups with Joe Maduiera and J. Scott Campbell. Those are some of my favorites.

My all time favorite writer is J. Michael Straczynski. I have nearly every comic he's ever written and they're all amazing, Rising Stars being the best.

My favorite artist is either Mike Deodato, jr., or Jae Lee. Both are absolutely brilliant and get me genuinely excited for the art side of a project.

I love many others in both fields, but these three are the absolute top of the game for me.
