Top Cow Productions is resurrecting its iconic WITCHBLADE series in an all-new relaunch along with Kickstarting The Complete Collection Volume 2 hardcover!
The original Witchblade bearer—Sara Pazinni—returns after five years since issue #185 was hit comic stands. “Sara Pezzini is coming back,” Top Cow Founder and Witchblade co-creator Marc Silvestri said. “The new art team is going to be amazing. She can not be in better hands.”
“After a five-year hiatus, we are returning with an all-new series featuring Sara Pezzini as the Witchblade,” Top Cow President Matt Hawkins told CBR. “This new creative team will start at the beginning and open a new chapter for Top Cow’s most prominent character.”
The new Witchblade series will be written by Marguerite Bennett (DC BOMBSHELLS), with art by Ariela Kristantina (ADORA AND THE DISTANCE), color art by Bryan Valenza (DETECTIVE COMICS), and letters by Troy Peteri (HARLEY QUINN)! The WITCHBLADE 1/2 preview issue by the new team will be exclusive to Kickstarter with a cover by Marc Silvestri and Bryan Valenza. Backer’s names will be printed in the thank you section of the WITCHBLADE #1/2.
“I grew up reading tons of manga but in my early adult year, I found a few American comic books in a bookstore on sale and WITCHBLADE was one of them,” Kristantina said. “That time I didn’t know how writer/cover art/interior art system worked but I picked all WITCHBLADE issues I could buy with Marc Silvestri’s covers –I really just bought them for the cover art at that time.
“I am absolutely delighted to finally reveal that we’re relaunching WITCHBLADE with a new #1 — we’ve been working on this new story and vision for over a year, and I can’t wait to show you the heights and depths we hope to explore,” Bennett said. “Marc is a titan of the industry, Ariela is a queen among artists, and there’s no one I trust more with a tale as enticing, horrifying, and utterly wild.”
Marc Silvestri will sign every single hardcover just like in the first Witchblade Complete Collection campaign. Kickstarter rewards include a Witchblade vintage retro tee, compact mirror, and bandana. There are limited copies of the first and second hardcovers bundles for fans that missed the last campaign, Witchblade remark art by Marc Silvestri—and WITCHBLADE #1 25th Anniversary set signed by Marc Silvestri, David Wohl, and Christina Z.
The Witchblade Complete Collection Vol. 2 Kickstarter will end at 3 p.m. (PST) on Monday, January 4th, 2021.
